Indian Valley Reservoir-Walker Ridge

Hello everyone, my project is based around the area known as Indian Valley Reservoir in Lake County, California. Off highway 20 heading east towards Clear Lake, this area is mainly rolling chaparral covered hills with areas of woodlands sporadic throughout the area. Access to this area can be a bit rough during the winter season and early spring but as the locals grade the road travel is possible but can be testing on ones vehicle since it is just a graded dirt/gravel road.

This area is largely chaparral with some woodland areas made up of mostly California Blue oak. Existing in the chaparral you would also find creeks, springs, ponds, and a large quiet reservoir that feeds Cache Creek. Most creeks are seasonal despite the many springs that exist in the area. North of Indian Valley Reservoir (IVR) you will encounter the Mendocino National Forest, a California Douglas Fir Forest. An area of interest in Mendocino National Forest other than its many recreational opportunities is a place called Bartlett springs. This property in the southern end of MNF is largely private but you are able to view some of the historic buildings from this once thriving community.

BARTLETT SPRINGS

Remains of what once was a well-known and popular resort of the area.
