Mines

Mine shaft hidden from overgrowth

This area has had its time with the activities of the human species which is evident even before you see IVR. This area was once known for its mining of mercury and in some cases gold. Many of the mines have vanished and replaced by nature over time but if you look hard enough you can still see remains of human activity in some areas. I did find an area where cables, pipes, and wood outcroppings still exist. To me this added to the over all feeling of the IVR and added to the many activities to this area. Unfortunately, one activity on the modern scale that has put a damper on the scenery would be the dirt motorcycle tracks that at times torn into the hill sides and meadows.

Another view of the mine shaft

I was starting my walk down to Oak Cove when I came across Clyde Mine and decided to explore a bit. The above two pictures shows of a shaft that was barely visible one a side of a small hill. Other than the shafts, only remaining human mining activity at Clyde Mine is the small pockets of sink holes.
